Coordinator FCL

Aurel von Richthofen has been appointed Module Coordinator at the Chair of Architecture and Construction at the Future Cities Laboratory (FCL) in Singapore since September 2014. He will coordinate the research done at the Advanced Fibre Composite Materials laboratory (also known as Bamboo Lab) and contribute to the interdisciplinary Tropical Town project in Indonesia.

Aurel von Richthofen has been appointed Module Coordinator at the Chair of Architecture and Construction at the Future Cities Laboratory (FCL) in Singapore since September 2014. Aurel will concentrates his research on alternative construction materials and their application in specific local settings, taking into account the availability of materials, human resource capacities and skills. This approach informs an existing laboratory to test new ideas and the combination of materials and knowledge. Aurel will explore new research projects anchored in material experimentation. His expertise in sustainability concepts in extreme climates bridging material, architectural and urban scales will serve as a backdrop for his research in the larger Singapore region. He will coordinate the research done at the Advanced Fibre Composite Materials laboratory (also known as Bamboo Lab) and contribute to the interdisciplinary Tropical Town project in Indonesia.
